ALREADY ENROLLED

ORIENTATION DAYS

All students joining Year 7 in 2024 are warmly invited to attend an Orientation Program on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 November in the Senior School. This is the first part of a four-day Orientation program for our Year 7 students, who will complete the second part on their first two days of Term 1, 2024.

These days will run from 8:30am to 3:00pm, like a usual school day.

Students are to gather on the lawn next to the School Reception building, "Coorah".

During the two days, students will be introduced to the Odyssey Project and learn about the daily organisation of lessons, the well-being and wilderness education programs, library and resources, and co-curricular opportunities. They will also be told which House they belong to and meet key members of staff, including their Head of House, House Tutor and the Pastoral team.

PARENT INFORMATION EVENING

Monday 20 November

Parents of students joining Year 7 in 2024 are requested to please come along to our Information Evening hosted by the Principal, Mr. Steven Coote, and the Director of Pedagogy and Innovation, Mr. Christopher Sanders. They, together with a specially selected team of teachers, designed our Year 7 Odyssey Program, which is being launched in 2024.

Deputy Principal (Pre-K to Year 12) Mr. Owen Laffin, and the Head of Senior School, Mrs. Alicia Michielsen will also be there and this a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your child starting in the Senior School.

This event will be held on Monday 20 November, from 7:00pm, in the School Chapel
(next to the main roundabout in the Senior School).

We encourage all parents, even those with siblings in older years, to attend this Parent Information Evening, to learn of the benefits and unique learning opportunities the Odyssey Program will provide in 2024 and beyond. A separate invitation will be sent to parents by email, including an online booking link.

HOUSE PLACEMENTS

Students currently enrolled in our Junior School will continue in the House to which they already belong. All new students joining BMGS in Year 7 next year will be allocated to their Houses during the Orientation Days. They will also be formally welcomed to their House at the first Senior School Assembly.

HOW WE COMMUNICATE WITH YOU

There are a number of ways you will receive communications from the school including:

  • The Sentral Portal Newsfeed where we will post excursion permission forms, general information and links to MyBMGS.

  • MyBMGS, our SharePoint communications app where you can find policies, official forms, co-curricular and curriculum information and much more.  We will link you straight to MyBMGS pages via the portal Newsfeed.

  • Email is automatically sent from our School Systems and also directly from teaching and administration staff.

  • SMS for time-sensitive communications

  • Telephone calls

  • Our Social platforms for exciting school updates

Using the Sentral Portal and MyBMGS

In early January 2024 you will receive an email providing you with instructions on how to Register for the Sentral Portal.  It is critical that you Register to access the portal as we send important information to you via the portal Newsfeed.  The Sentral Portal also allows you to submit future absences to the school, download Academic Reports and view your child’s attendance record.

Both the Sentral Portal and MyBMGS apps can be accessed on your mobile.  However, we highly recommend you take a couple of minutes each day to access both apps on your laptop or PC.  This will provide you with the best experience as you will be better able to display, read and respond to information.
